How to Draw a St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow and Pot of Gold — Let’s get started!
Step 1 – Draw the Bottom of the Pot.

Start by drawing a big, wide “U” shape in the center of your page. This will be the bottom half of your magical pot.
Make sure the sides curve up slightly. It should look like a big bowl sitting on the ground.
Tip: Use light pencil strokes so you can erase and adjust if needed. Later, you can trace your final lines with a pen or marker!
Step 2 – Draw the First Leg.

Under the right side of the “U” shape, draw a small rounded triangle or thick, curved rectangle pointing downward. That’s the pot’s first leg!
Fun Fact: Traditional iron pots had legs so they could sit over a fire without tipping over. This little leg helps support all that gold!
Step 3 – Draw the Second Leg.

Now let’s balance it out.
Draw another little leg under the left side of the pot, just like the first one.
Make sure both legs are about the same size so your pot doesn’t wobble!
Step 4 – Draw the Rim.

Let’s finish the pot’s shape.
Draw a curved line from the top of the left side to the right side, connecting the ends of your “U” shape. This is the rim, or mouth, of the pot—where the treasure will sit!
Step 5 – Add Some Gold Coins.

Time for the treasure!
On top of the pot’s rim, draw several small ovals. These are your gold coins.
Make some stand upright and others lying flat. Add a few tumbling off the side for fun!
Fun Fact: In Irish folklore, leprechauns love to hide their gold at the end of rainbows. That’s why this pot is overflowing!
Step 6 – Add Gold Piles.

Let’s really fill up the pot!
Stack more ovals behind the first ones. You can draw some coins peeking out from behind others to show a pile.
Tip: The more coins you draw, the richer your pot will look. Don’t be afraid to add extra sparkle!
Step 7 – Draw the First Part of the Rainbow.

Now for the magical rainbow drawing—the best part of your festive St. Patrick’s Day scene!
Start at the back of the coin pile. Draw a long, curved line going upward and outward, like a giant candy cane.
Then, draw a second curved line right next to it, following the same shape. That’s your first rainbow stripe!
Make it nice and tall so it stretches across the sky.
Step 8 – Add Two More Rainbow Stripes.

A rainbow needs more colors!
Draw two more curved lines next to the first one. Each should follow the same arc, spaced slightly apart.
Now your rainbow has three bright stripes flowing out of the pot—if you want to color more rainbows, try our fun Rainbow Coloring Page too!
Tip: Try to keep your spacing even, but it’s okay if it’s a little wiggly. Rainbows come in all shapes!
Step 9 – Color Your Drawing!

You did it—you’ve finished your drawing! Now it’s time to bring it to life with color.
Try these fun ideas:
- Pot: Dark gray or black, with shading for shine.
- Gold coins: Bright yellow and orange. Use orange for shadows to add depth.
Rainbow:
- First stripe: Red
- Second stripe: Light green
- Third stripe: Blue
Bonus details:
- Add a blue sky and fluffy clouds
- Draw tiny shamrocks at the base
- Use glitter glue or stickers to make the coins and rainbow shimmer!
Pin it now, Draw later!
