Step-by-Step Drawing Guide
Step 1: Draw the First Blossom

Draw one flower with five broad rounded petals, giving each petal a small dip at its outer edge. Add a tiny starburst of short lines in the center.
Pro Tip: Rotate each petal slightly around the center instead of making a rigid pattern.
Step 2: Add Two More Flowers

Draw a larger blossom above and to the right of the first flower. Add a smaller blossom beyond it to begin a rising diagonal cluster.
Pro Tip: Overlap the new flowers slightly to make them feel connected.
Step 3: Draw the Main Branch

Add two long curved lines behind the flowers to form a branch running from lower left to upper right. Split the upper end into a fork and add a short side twig.
Pro Tip: Taper the branch toward both ends to keep it graceful.
Step 4: Add Left Flowers and Leaves

Draw another blossom on the left side of the branch and a smaller hanging flower below it. Add several pointed oval leaves along the lower-left twig.
Pro Tip: Draw the branch first wherever it remains visible, then overlap it with petals and leaves.
Step 5: Decorate the Right Twig

Add two blossoms along the hanging twig on the right, placing one near the middle and one at the bottom. Draw a pair of pointed leaves between them.
Pro Tip: Change the size and viewing angle of each flower to add variety.
Step 6: Fill the Center Cluster

Draw several more blossoms and partial flowers in the open spaces around the central branch. Include a few small leaves so the finished arrangement feels dense but balanced.
Pro Tip: Let some petals disappear behind nearby flowers to show depth.
Step 7: Color in your drawing!

Fun Facts
- Most cherry blossoms have five petals, while some cultivated varieties have many layers.
- Cherry blossom viewing is a celebrated spring tradition in Japan.
- The blooming period can be brief, which makes the flowers a symbol of life’s fleeting beauty.
Pin it now, Draw later!

Erase hidden guides, darken the branch and outlines, and color the petals in pale pinks with deeper centers. Your cherry blossoms are complete, so try adding loose falling petals or a soft blue sky behind the branch.
