How to Draw a St. Patrick’s Day Kid — Let’s get started!
Step 1 – Draw the Face Shape.

Start with a large “U” shape to form the face. Curve it slightly inward at the top corners for a cute cheek and jawline look.
You’ll finish the top of the head later—this is just the face base for now!
Tip: Use light pencil strokes so you can easily erase and adjust as needed.
Step 2 – Add the Ears.

On each side of the face, draw a small “C” shape for the ears.
Inside each ear, draw a swirl or smaller curved line to add simple detail.
Creative Twist: Make the ears round or pointy—whichever suits your character best!
Step 3 – Sketch the Hairline.

Let’s add hair!
Start from one ear and draw a swooping, wavy hairline across to the other ear. Think of it like a soft hill or gentle wave above the forehead.
Make it your own: Try curly, straight, or spiky styles depending on your character’s personality!
Step 4 – Draw the Brim of the Hat.

Time for a leprechaun-style hat!
Draw a wide, curved line above the hairline, going from one side of the head to the other. It should look like a stretched-out smile.
Then add short curved lines on each end, dropping toward the ears—this finishes the brim.
Step 5 – Create the Top of the Hat.

From each side of the brim, draw slightly slanted lines going upward.
Then connect the tops with another wide curve—now you’ve got a tall, fun hat!
Fun Fact: Leprechaun hats are usually tall and tilted, and sometimes hold a bit of magic.
Step 6 – Add the Hat Band.

Draw a horizontal rectangle across the lower part of the hat, just above the brim. This is the hat band.
Add details if you’d like—tiny clovers, stripes, or gold dots make it festive!
Step 7 – Draw the Buckle.

In the center of the hat band, draw a square for the buckle.
Inside that square, draw a smaller one. This gives it a 3D look, like a real hat buckle!
Color Tip: Color it yellow or gold for extra shine.
Step 8 – Add the Face Details.

Let’s give your St. Patrick’s Day Kid some personality!
Eyes: Two black circles, with small white dots inside for sparkle
Eyebrows: Simple curved lines above the eyes
Nose: A small “U” or hook shape works great
Mouth: A big smiling “U”! Add a tongue or teeth if you’d like
Extra Ideas: Add freckles, blush, or winking eyes for even more character!
Step 9 – Color Your Drawing!

You did it—you’ve drawn your full St. Patrick’s Day Kid!
Now it’s time to bring it to life with color:
Coloring Guide:
- Hat: Green with a yellow buckle and black band
- Hair: Orange or light brown (classic Irish colors!)
- Skin: Light peach, tan, or any skin tone you prefer
- Eyes: Brown, black, blue—or even green!
- Mouth: Red with a pink tongue
Creative Add-Ons: Draw a rainbow, add flying gold coins, shamrocks (like the ones on our shamrock coloring page), or a background scene like a parade or pot of gold!
Pin it now, Draw later!
