How to Draw a Goat — Let’s get started!

Step 1 – Start with the Snout

How to Draw a Goat - Step 1 - Start with the Snout

Begin by drawing a small curved shape for the goat’s snout. Think of it as a soft ‘C’ shape with a slight point at the tip. This will be the base for the nose and mouth.

Tip: Goats have soft, rounded muzzles, so avoid sharp lines!

Step 2 – Add the Face and Ears

Next, draw the outline of the goat’s face by extending the snout upwards. Then, add two small ears, one on each side of the head. Below the chin, sketch a little beard, goats are famous for them! Don’t forget to give your goat a tiny nose and a friendly smile!

Fun Fact: Goats can move their ears independently to listen in different directions!

Step 3 – Sketch the Front Legs

Goats have strong, sturdy legs. Draw two straight lines coming down from the head for the front legs. Add little hooves at the bottom to make them look complete.

Did You Know? Goats have special hooves that help them climb steep and rocky surfaces!

Step 4 – Draw the Body and a Back Leg

Now, let’s give our goat a body! Extend a curved line from the head to create the back and belly. Then, add a small curved back leg to show that our goat is standing.

Tip: Keep the legs evenly spaced to make the drawing look balanced.

Step 5 – Complete the Back and Hind Legs

Now, let’s make the goat’s body. Start from the back of the head and draw a curved line downwards. Extend this into a larger rounded shape, then add the hind legs beneath it.

Tip: Keep the legs evenly spaced to make the drawing look balanced.

Step 6 – Add the Tail and Final Details

Give your goat a small, fluffy tail at the back. Goats often have short tails that curve slightly upward. Draw a tiny curved shape at the back of the body to complete it.

Fun Fact: Some goats wag their tails when they’re happy!

Step 7 – Add the Horns

Now it’s time to make your goat look unique! Draw two curved horns on top of its head. Goats’ horns can be different shapes, so you can make yours as straight or as curly as you like.

Did You Know? Goat horns are made of keratin, the same material as human fingernails!

Step 8 – Finishing Touches
