How to Draw a Pine Tree — Let’s get started!
Step 1 – Draw the Head
The head of the duck should be the first thing to draw. So, draw a small curved line in the top left corner of the page. It should resemble a semicircle or a backward “C,” as you can see in the picture.
The duck’s head should be smaller in size than the body. So, take your time in making it rounded and proportional.
Step 2 – Add the Beak
Now, we need to create a beak that would resemble a triangular shape as you can see in the picture.
For this, you need to extend the straight line outward from the front side of the head curve to create the top edge of the beak. Once it is made, you need to slightly curve this line downward to create a pointed tip.
At last, create a small curved line beneath the beak to connect it back to the head. You should make sure the size of the beak is smaller than the head so that they can fit proportionally.
Step 3 – Sketch the Neck and Belly
The neck of the duck is small and relatively goes unnoticed. But, to give a professional look to our drawing, we have to sketch it. So, from the bottom of the head, underneath the connection point of the beak, draw a curved line flowing downward. This will be the front of the neck.
Now, we need to create the front of the body. So, don’t stop your pencil after creating the curved line. Instead, draw a large rounded curve or blob to create the belly of the duck. The picture would resemble a sitting duck.
Make sure that the belly is larger than the head to create a balanced proportion.
Step 4 – Sketch the Back
It is time to create the back of the duck to give an outline to its body. For this, put your pencil on the back side of the head and extend the curved line inward to give a slender shape to the neck.
Now, extend it outward and downward in a gentle slope as shown in the picture.
Make sure to add two or three small pointed shapes before connecting the slope to the belly. These shapes will make the tail’s feathers.
Step 5 – Create the Wings
Ducks have small wings that they can use to jump and fly. They dive underwater and balance their body with the help of the wings. So, your drawing will be incomplete without them.
To create them, you need to draw an elongated oval shape in the center of the body as shown in the picture. It should taper slightly toward the back, following the curve of the duck’s body. Inside it, add two to three curved lines to represent feathers.
Step 6 – Add Body Details
Your drawing will give professional vibes when you will add different body details to it. For this, you need to draw a zigzag shape, joining your wings with the outer line. You could also add a horizontal line in your wings to give them a proper and realistic look.
Step 7 – Add Neck Details
This step is optional but will help you in defining the duck’s markings, such as a collar or color change in its feathers.
To do this, you have to add two horizontal curved lines across the neck, as shown in the picture. Make sure that these lines follow the natural curve of the duck’s neck.
Step 8 – Add Eyes
Any drawing is incomplete without eyes. So, you need to draw a small circle near the top part of the duck’s head, slightly near the beak, to represent the eyes.
To make it more lively, you could add a white dot in the black circle.
Step 9 – Do Coloring
Your duck drawing is complete now. But, there is no fun in drawing if you are not coloring it. So, grab your crayons and unleash your creativity.
Generally, yellow and white color are for the duck’s body, and orange is for its beak. But, you can experiment with different colors to add your personal touches to it.
